I need help editing a flash file

Post by stuntpenguin007 » Sat Nov 14, 2009 10:30 pm

I downloaded the swf file of a game and decompiled it. Modified the actionscript to do what I want, but how do I compile it now? I'm pretty sure I need a fla file don't I?

I've been searching google and I've found a compiler / gui that sounds like it would do what I want, but the download links are broken (flasc)

edit: I also tried magic flash decompiler which would be perfect, except any time I try load a swf file it crashes.

I dont know if this will answer your question or not, but you need flash CS4 (or before) if your working with ActionScript 2.0 or just flash CS3/Cs4 if your working with ActionScript 3.0 (yes you do need a/the fla file for this) You can pick up a copy of Adobe Flash CS4 Pro from their site, mine cost me 1050 AUS at the time.

Once you have the FLA, you can re complie (or export as its called) into a swf (or exe/app if your on win/mac) if your exporting as a normal swf, go to File --> Export... --> Export Movie and export into your chosen location.

You can search google for how to export it as a exe or app, simply for users without a flash player or if your not submitting it for online play.

But for decompiling it, im actually not sure, ive had no need for decompiling, so i cant help you out there.
