make a vga to video cable?

Post by Oniak » Sun Sep 13, 2009 2:01 pm

I'd like to know how to do so, I know I'd have to get a vga cable, cut one end but I'm not sure on what wires go where on the video plug.
Basically I want to make one of these minus the svideo:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/Adaptor-for-VGA-D-Su ... 286.c0.m14" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Reason being is I don't want to wait for shipping.

That will only work if your video card supports it. It doesn't convert VGA to composite or S-Video, it just tells a supporting video card to direct it's TV out to pins on the VGA connector. Unless a similar cable came with your video card and you lost or damaged it, this will very likely not help you.

So you want to waste 15 minutes making a cable that probably won't do anything? If you simply must make one, google "vga pinout" and try to find one that shows where the composite line goes (for devices that support it).
