Gameboy project before Jan 31! (Need help)

Post by nitro2k01 » Thu Jan 03, 2008 7:33 pm

Remember this thread? It didn't really get anywhere. But now I've stumbled aupon a new project, Super Game Bakedown which is basically a project revolving around the idea of creating a game in 30 days, more specifically Jan 1-Jan 31, 2008. It can be any platform, but GB classic/color is my platform of choice.
And now I need your help. I'll do all the coding required, but I need help with ideas for a game, (No need to be related to the other thread) and perhaps graphics.

Who's with me?

How about an I Am Legend style game (the book, not movie).

You know; go around town during the day, get back home before night.
Why is it that every time I post in a thread, it dies?

How bout if you're cookie monster lost in the real world?
Or how bout an intrepid gameboy coder trying to win a contest before January 31st? (really, serious idea. Not making fun.)

Kind of off topic, but do you use an emulator for running your games, or do you have a gameboy flash cart? If you use a flash cart, can you post up some info on it. I've always wanted a gameboy flash cart, but I don't think I can build one.

TIA,

I even have two flash carts, even though I use an emulator for testing while in development. I've written a Gameboy music guide, where I keep a list of shops that sell GB/GBC flash carts. You can check it out here: http://gameboygenius.8bitcollective.com ... page_id=55

The plan is to do it in assembly language.

Idea for a game - how about a single screen one (easier to program), like Yoshi's Cookie for example (as per NES / SNES) - simple, fun and keeps you playing for a while without you realising why.

Hmm, the classic Gameboy and Gameboy Colour only have one screen per unit, so anything else would be hard to do. But now that you've sparked my interest... Maybe a dual screen GBC game that requires you to use two Gameboys and a link cable :D

I think he just meant a game that didn't have a ton of scrolling like RPGs do. :P

I still like my idea. You could have pokemon like battles with issues you face, like the annoying, pushy person on the internet that kept asserting and asserting his dumb idea. :D
