MGC 2010 HYPE thread
Moderator:Moderators
You know, I might actually be able to go. The chances of me going increase a ton if 1) I can pick up someone(s) along the way or 2) someone picks me up on their way there (so we can split fuel costs, I live ~30min north of SLC). At $2.50 a gallon, getting 40mpg (would be easy to get), it would cost $180 for me to get there and back. Not too bad, but if that was split 2 or 3 ways, it would be much easier to bear.
Oh, fun fact, Google Maps says it would take me 18 days to walk there.

so if you hopped on a bike...you could cut that down to only 6 days if you really worked it

I think I'll stick to driving, it'll be worth the ~$180 to cut the travel time down to 20 hours.Metallica Man X wrote:so if you hopped on a bike...you could cut that down to only 6 days if you really worked it

Speaking of the suite, I remember last time I was there we were all in the tub together with our laptops
...then the water somehow got turned on
I might be able to make it next year actually though

You know, if you could swing by Western Kentucky and Pick me up. I'd be very happy!vskid wrote:You know, I might actually be able to go. Anyways, whether I be picked up by a member or take a bus to Wisconsin. I'm hoping to come to MGC in 2010.

Using the previous numbers ($2.50 a gal, 40mpg), it would be $260 total (I leave Utah, pick up you, MGC, take you home, I go home). I'd probably only charge you the $80 difference (or whatever it ends up being). I wasn't sure where in Kentucky, but pretty much everywhere west of Louisville was close to the same distance. Those cost estimates are likely on the high side, hopefully gas will be about $2 a gallon, and 45mpg would probably be easy without using the AC.nightwheel wrote:You know, if you could swing by Western Kentucky and Pick me up. You're out of the way, thats for sure, but it should be fine (unless I get other passengers that object).
EDIT: Anyone else looking for a ride, I'll let you figure out the cost. I live in Clearfield, UT, use Milwaukee, WI as the destination, add your address in between. Its $0.0625 a mile for gas. The cost from my house, to there, and back is $180, we'll split the gas costs for the distance I take you (unless you're way out of the way, you'll pay all the cost of me going out of the way and split the cost when we get back to the path I would be taking). You could also fly into SLC and I'll drive you the full way (if its cheaper for you to do that than to fly to Wisconsin).
I don't know if I'm going for sure, yet. By the beginning of 2010, I should know.

Re: MGC 2010 HYPE thread
assuming i take my BMW on the trip i have room for appx 3 passengers in moderate comfort, so i might be able to pick up one or two people along the way. same deal as VSkid offers, but between ottumwa IA and milwaukee WI but about double the fuel cost, i KNOW my bmw wont get 40mpg lol, figure it at 25-30 tops.

This sounds weird, but Kyle bought a 24 pack of MT Dew with a can design that I hadn't seen before or seen since. Have YOU?
