If I do end up driving and anyone wants a ride from me on the way, I'll have room for four plus me, and room to haul stuff in the back end of my vehicle.
Anyone interested in bringing a vac-form setup? It would be cool if someone had the space to haul one with.

Re: MGC 2010 HYPE thread
Hey Dan Loosen asked me if we could get all of the sure-fire MGC people to buy their tickets ahead of time? It would give them a good idea of what to expect and help the show.
Also he mentioned there was some interest in an Odyssey 2 composite video mod? Anyone have any ideas on doing this?
We also need to come up with a *very* basic schedule in the near future. Thanks!

Re: MGC 2010 HYPE thread
Just revisiting this after thinking about this during a recent discussion I had with Ralph Baer. Why wouldn't the NES light gun work on a flat screen TV? It uses the target replacement method vs. display timing, so it's not bound to the specifics of the display to work.Metallica Man X wrote:Well, there is one catch with those flatties......and that is.....NO DUCK HUNT. Which could be a problem, cause we all know how awesome that game is
SO! I could also bring a smaller CRT TV along if needed.
Also, to let everyone know about the offer this year - I'll be advertising the mods this year in the museum area. Basically I'll mod some of my consoles with your mods and have a sign by each one telling attendees where to get it done or to purchase it. You just have to get me the mods in enough time for me to do it before the show.

Re: MGC 2010 HYPE thread
That's a good question Marty. Perhaps it has to do with the brightness / contrast of CRT (much higher than LCD), but again, since that would vary by TV you'd think it wouldn't matter.
Is Ralph coming to MGC 2010?

Hey, I have a friend who's really good at electronics work/modding. He wants to come with me but isn't a forum member, so could he help out with me?

I don't see why not. Samus brought a friend of her's with last year who isn't a member, and he stayed in the room with the rest of us.

Re: MGC 2010 HYPE thread
Did some more research. Seems it's a sync issue, nothing more, and could be fixed on the coding side. The refresh rate is different for an LCD and there's the data lag (since screens are transmitted and generated in entire frames at a time). The NES games are synced to the timing of an CRT raster generation display. Their code would need to be changed to work on LCD and plasma.benheck wrote:That's a good question Marty. The target replacement method itself that it and other older light guns use will work on LCD and plasma. The polling just needs to be synced properly.
That's the plan so far, though he's having surgery at the end of Feb/beginning of March. Is Ralph coming to MGC 2010?
I'm actually flying in to see him in January and work on a bunch of things we've had in the que.

Just thought I'd bump up this thread...keep the hype going people!!
What all is everyone planning on bringing with for sure?
I'm pretty sure I'm gonna bring with my NES, with the 4 player adapter so we can rock out with some World Cup!
Might also bring my Sega Battleship (Genesis/CD/32X)...but that's debatable..cause it's alotta wires lol.
