Gameboy micro power question, please help!

Post by journeyfanatic » Thu Aug 30, 2012 2:03 pm

My old Micro suddenly stopped working, it turns out that the power connection on the top was broken somehow. I am thinking about changing out the connector but I don't know if I need to track down another broken micro to get that connector off or if I can make my own custom connection. From what I've read so far it seems that only the first and last pins are used for charging. So my question would be... would it be possible for me to solder on a micro usb plug and charge it that way? If anyone has any experience with this type of thing I would love the help, thanks everybody.

Opening the Gameboy Micro is not easy but if you have the screwdriver and a lot of patience you can get it open, BUT DO IT SLOWLY I only just got mine open when I did it.
Yes you can use a mini USB the voltage is the same, carefully un solder the broken connecter (don't use a solder sucker it rips the solder pad off) the solder the mini USB to right pins. Micro pin out: http://snowcat.de/gbmicro.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
