Im starting a new psp project and need help

Hi
Thinking about starting a new psp project which i will take apart the psp and make new case for it.
Think I will run emulators on it as well as umds.
Was reading about using ps1/ps2 controllers with psps which sounds like a poss' for this.
Wondered if theres any way to extend the screen ribbon cable so i dont need screen quite as close to motherboard?
Any help or advice would be well recieved.
