You know, I have the same situation/problem. Basically, you need to get a couple of battery packs that would fit in the case and output about 7.2v. 3.7v packs are common - does anyone, perhaps Tibia, know if the Game Gear can take 7.4v? I should think it would.

Anyway, you'd need to attach the leads that exit the pack to the batteries or protection circuit board (depending on the battery type) and make sure that the recharge jack is accessable.

However, you may want to instead try your hand at Tibia's lighting/power-draw hackery. You will get more battery life and won't need the bulky pack. However, if you did both, you would have a truly epic Game Gear setup!

from what i know the rechargeable battery packs that you could buy for the gamegear are 7.4v Ni-Cd batteries (i know this because i own one) so yes it should be able to run off 7.4v!

According to Tibia, the Game Gear will take 7.2v all the way up to 10v without complaint. Thus, using two 3.7v batteries would be fine.
