Stubborn Screw

Post by Zero_D » Thu Jul 09, 2009 10:01 pm

So I'm trying to open up a PSP to replace the screen on it and I already got 4 out of the 5 screws off without a problem. However one particular screw, (the one where the battery is supposed to go, right above the Sony logo) just does not want to come off. I've tried a variety of different size screw drivers, and the thing is too small to grab with pliers. Is there any way I could get this stubborn screw out? Part of me is just frustrated enough to tear it open forcefully and try to get a replacement case...

You might try cutting a slot in the top of the screw and using a flathead to get it out... You would need to get a new screw though. If worst comes to worse, there is always the drill(press).

I used a screwdriver.

And uh, I turned it.

Counter-clockwise in fact.

I've seriously never had a problem opening up a PSP, and I've opened dozens.
I'm kind of surprised at this and the others in this thread who have had this same problem.

lol Same here, I stripped the first psp screw I tried, only because I started with a #0 screwdriver... #000 is SO much better.
