How would I do this?
Moderator:Moderators
hey, it's me again. i am starting a new project and i was wondering if anyone could help me with my problem.
At Mash Mods, they made a touch screen Gameboy. They said that they did not use an actual touch screen. i think they used two sheets of a conductive screen to use as the screen, but this is probably wrong. And even if I'm not, i don't know how i would do it. if any one knows how they did this, our how i could do this, please, Please help me.

Re: How would I do this?
A touch screen IS two sheets of conductive plastic (Well, resistive ones...)
This is a pretty useless mod, and it requires a fair level of skill. I would wait a while before attempting it.

Excellent
Re: How would I do this?
what kind of skill. i don't have much experience with consoles, but I'm pretty good with a soldering iron. and i don't care if its useless , i just really need to know how they did it.

Re: How would I do this?
Now, when they say they "didn't use a touchscreen", they mean they didn't use a complete touchscreen module.
Instead, they stuck a Resistive Touchscreen over the existing CGB screen.
THAT is hooked up to 2 of the internal ADCs in a small microcontroller.
The Microcontroller is able to tell where the user is touching at any given time.
The Microcontroller is then hooked up to all the buttons on the CGB, and when a certain area of the screen is touched, it "activates" (for lack of a better term) that button.
This is a LOT more than just soldering.

Re: How would I do this?
Thats when you put that in a PSP
Or in the top screen of an old DS, to make it like the DSi. Ooo fancy.

Re: How would I do this?
Wow, I read somewhere that it did and that DSi games used it. lol wow.
well then....
Put it as the top screen in a DS, to make it BETTER than a dsi
Or put it in a portable or PSP.
EDIT: Internet proved it was a rumor of 2 touch screens.

Re: How would I do this?
I'd actually seriously consider putting this into a console laptop... but if it was possible to fit in a psp, it would make me get creamy in my pants. It's actually possible, it just requires an analog to digital translation PIC, which I don't have the skills to code...HotDog-Cart wrote:Does noone else get creamy in their pants when they think about putting this in a portable?

Re: How would I do this?
This has been done for the PSP, actually. The guy is a massive wiz at hardware, though.
Excellent
