Broken DS

First of all sorry for my bad english, I'm Dutch (not that that is an excuse :) )

No it's broken...!
WTF... What does it care, I never play on it :)

Good, but I'm not the type to throw things away.
I found your forum, when I was having my daily YouTube hour.
You guys are really great! Portable Nintendo 64s, why Nintendo never made one!

I'm not here to talk, I'm here to ask a question... What to do with my broken ds (it's broken in two halves and when I turn the bottom halve on, it's only flashing)?

Can I restore the bottom part to make a funny gba of it?

- Bump -

So with some wall smashing, I got the screen out of the upper part.
Man Nintendo really has to make their consoles more easily to be modded!

So Ive got a screen and a chip, where I don't know it is for.

This doens't really bother, because it's all about the lower screen...
The problem is, I can't make the lower screen turn on... Is the upper screen needed for that?

If it is, how will I ever make the GBAi (the name for my first project :) )!?

You know there are phillips screws under the 4 pads on the front of the screen (or at least on the PHAT)

I will type in simple English so you understand what I say!

DS needs all parts plugged in to turn on, because it has a built in test when you turn it on that checks for parts. Is a way for Nintendo to make money by not letting you use broken DS at all! :(

Someone here named TysonDS has made a mod to let you use only bottom, but it is very hard to solder, with small connections. :cry: But, new screens and cases are very cheap for DS from this site, with free worldwide shipping! Here are links to internet pages where you can order a new top screen and a new case:

Screen: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.3161" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Case: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.14103" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Those are for DS Lite, if you need original "phat" DS parts, tell me, and I can find those parts for you, too.

To take apart, you will need special Nintendo Tri-wing screwdriver, get here: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.2905" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Let me know if that helps!
