Wood does have SOME elasticity, but you can't make it do huge loops and arcs. Shaping it involves quite a bit of water and a lot of gradual bending. I know nothing about vac-forming it, but it can be bent some.
what is this i don't even

If you cant do huge arcs and loops how do they make pianos? A friend of mine is a piano tech and showed me this book about how they make thm from one long lamminated board. Its straight until they bend it into the piano shape.

it takes lots of water, gradual bending, and time. lots of time.

also the interior may be notched for some applications, probably not a piano, since the more anal among us say that would affect tone, I was referring to the elasticity of a poly carbon (plastic) to that of cellulose (wood) no comparison

have you thought about routing a single piece of wood? yes it will be slightly bigger, yes it takes expensive wood working tools, yes it takes FOREVER, but it makes this job doable

And how BIG is that piano? Sure, they can do big curves, but the actual deflection per inch is not that big. A portable sized piece if wood bent that much would look like just a somewhat bent piece of wood. I doubt you could make a 90 degree or even close angle with wood on a portable case.

I may be wrong, that is just my guess.

Depends on how thick the wood is. Remember, anything is possible, but it might not be probable.

Ok Zombie Project time! Ill be working on this project this weekend. Some things are changing tho from the initial design.

It is going to be slightly larger then the DS Lite originally was. Instead of making the wood as this as the plastic ill go with what is structurally feasible.

The hinge area is going to be of my own design. Nintendo's does not translate to wood that well. Anyone know how wide and how many wires are in the flex cable for the screen? I am going to need to extend it I think. I could solder magnet wire on but that is a pain. I might have enough length if I don't curl the cable. Figuring out how to protect the cable is important as well. A layer or two of shrink wrap over the cable should be fine I think.

The power switch, volume slider, and headphone jack will be desoldered and relocated to ease the construction of the lower half.

I am going to build the lower half first this time and I might be able to salvage part of the upper half.
