Is there any hack to put a backlight in the original gba? without the one where u have to replace the whole screen and add a funky thing to the top.

Anyway, you mean the Afterburner? As far as I've understood: You're not replacing the screen, as in the LCD, but only the plastic front screen. And since the LCD is attached to the front part of the case and the space is pretty tight, that's probably how you must do to add a back (front)light to a GBA v1.
