Hey guys. Since I cant find 6 AA batteries at the moment (-_-), I just tried an adapter whats 12v and works in my Nomad. The nomad works fine. But when I put the adapter in the gamegear, the gamegear's red powerlight blinks and the screen has like scrolling lines.
Whats this mean? is it sega's way of saying "Hey, silly boy. Buy me some batteries?"

With the many gamegear modders on this forum, someone must know the awnser.

Is this a Game Gear or a Nomad? Your title and second post say Game Gear, the first post says Nomad.
If it's a Game Gear, it could be that the contacts in the system and on the cart need cleaned.

I just tried the official power adapter that Sega used for the nomad, genesis and gamegear.
The gamegear turns on, red light is on, I hear faint music of Sonic 2, backlight turns on, but the screen has no image.
I'll try batteries and another game.

I popped some batteries in the system and it still doesnt work.
Me and my buddy were looking at it and we found something weird.
For some reason the case has been warped a little and the headphone jack is bent. (Thus would explain the reason why the sound is very faint). Is there a chance this could have caused a short and caused the video to be all screwy?

You wanted advice, yet you're ignoring it? I am sorry I bothered lugging the computer around town to find internet so I could post.Tibia wrote:I'd try replacing the caps in the GG. I doubt it's gonna work any better on batteries.
Considering the headphone jack's not even on the main board, no, I doubt very much that's the problem. REPLACE THE CAPS.

the ggs are known to have faulty caps. and the caps greatly effect the screen.
replace the caps. if it doesn't fix it, then you move on from there. but that is ALWAYS the first step with a bad game gear screen.

Okie dokie. I wasn't ignoring your advice tibia, I was simply asking if the damaged headphone jack could also be the problem.
