Radioshack

Radioshack is a very nice source for getting many, many things you'll need to make your portable. Remember that! You can find a ton of things you might need for your project such as resistors, capacitors, controllers, tact switches, etc. Reason im posting this is for new people, i mean, when we ALL first started we all probably wondered where do i buy a resistor. So good luck modders/portabilizers and G'day!

Radioshack sucks. they cut back their project and diy section to a 10th of what it used to be. their prices are jacked up to the sky, and the goons behind the counters dont know the difference between a capacitor and a resister. if you want a cruddy cell phone or some generic batteries, radioshack is good. otherwise, go to mouser or digikey for your parts.

Thumbs up for mouser or digikey, excellent prices that will save you a ton over radio shack. Radio shack is more for common parts or if you need to pick something up and can't wait for shipping.

radioshack is useful if you absolutely NEED a part that they have, but the prices tend to be about 300% higher than what you could get the same parts for online, or more. like a dollar EACH for tact switches, versus ~5 cents each online

limpport, your sig was referenced many times at MGC.

But yeah, Radioshack used to be cool, but now they are for the most part nothing special. They vary in their appeal to the DIYer, but for the most part they have a terrible selection of stuff and bad prices. Ordering stuff online is definitely a better way to go. However, as said, if you need something now they can still be handy.

Radioshack is good if you have no way of buying things online from Mouser or Digikey. I don't have a credit card or anything right now and my Mom won't let me use hers.   I agree the prices are outrageous and the people are usually usless though. I just ignore them, get what I need, and get out of there. But just so nobody freaks out: Buying online is 1000 times better in every way. Radioshack is good for the basics like power switches.
I have nothing clever to say here. Sorry.

Radioshack is a good place if your to lazy to go online and buy for cheap. I've only bought from radioshack 1 time, and thank god the guy at the counter knew exactly what I was talking about, you guys seem to have horrible radioshacks lol
