Re: can you mod a pentium4 slot to i7?
can't be done; they're completely different architectures. A socket 478 p4 can be used with a socket adapter in a socket 775 motherboard, though.

port adapters change the socket.so can i get (or make) a port adapter.
Re: can you mod a pentium4 slot to i7?

Re: can you mod a pentium4 slot to i7?

yes but all those are for pentium4 not i7
Re: can you mod a pentium4 slot to i7?
You want to run two Core i7s? What sorta stuff do you need all that power for?
Core i7 isn't optimized for a multiprocessor system. You could run quad core Xeons in a multi-processor setup, though.

You aren't allowed to run more than 2 i7s on one board, because they don't have an extra connection to talk to the second processor. Only Xeons have this.

aww crappppppppppp
Re: can you mod a pentium4 slot to i7?
You could always call up IBM and buy a Power 780 system. 64 3.8 ghz cores or 32 4.1 ghz cores with 2TB DDR3 RAM. And 4 threads per core. But I bet it's a little out of your price range.

Why would you want to run a P4 on a i7 to begin with? It would be like trying to put a 4 cylinder engine from a VW rabbit into a Ferrari....
Re: can you mod a pentium4 slot to i7?
no an i7 on a p4 not the opposite
