Unless you want to make your own console, you're going to have to take apart one yourself and portablize it. And making your own games is certainly possible, but it depends on which console you chose. And making games is not that simple.

P.S. Use this forum.

that may be but almost all emulators are in proggress examples: cxbx,psx2,psx1 and lots more.
granted some like psx1 are workable for a few games there not popular like the xbox or ps2 wich have crappy emulators and basicly no games for them and also the process of making your own games would take an expert coder to do because all games are lines upon lines upon lines of codes and data so its not really worth doing

You could put an Asus eeePC netbook inside a custom case with a controller built in and plugged into the internal netbook via USB. You could also extend the USB ports from the netbook, to be on the outside of the case so you could plug in a mouse and keyboard when you need to do stuff other than play games.

I'm considering building something like this myself because all the good snes and sega games that I'd want to play cost up around $70 each :wtf: so I figured chucking a $300 eeePC in the portable would be financially viable. Also, this would mean you could have it emulating all consoles earlier than the N64, but it wouldn't be powerful enough to emulate n64 and up.

Just some thoughts. If you wanted to commission me to build it, I'd be happy to

Since this topic was bumped, I realized I forgot to mention things like the PSP, GP2X, and Dingoo (even Pandora because it finally shipped!) would work for emulating just about anything below N64.
Plus, they're much cheaper than a EeePc.

Haha.. whoops, I'll check the dates next time! didn't realise it was an old thread

I think modding a portable system into a portable wouldn't be nearly as fun :P but you do raise a good point, I'd only go ahead with my idea if I got an eeePC at rock bottom secondhand prices :D

Netbooks almost exclusively have the same specs, so I would imagine any netbook should run it that well.

It should be noted, though, that Mario Kart 64 is a good deal less taxing under emulation than, say, Conker's Bad Fur Day, so YMMV.

That's a good point, although I think I'd still prefer playing on my N64p than emulating it, then I can play all games no problem :D

If you create a console running a nds emulator you can use a program called nds game maker to easily make games.
