What if someone made a portable Sega Saturn?

Post by appdirect » Thu Dec 31, 2009 4:35 pm

This is something I thought when seeing all those portable console projects on the internet and yet I haven't seen a portable Sega Saturn project, I'm aware that the console is quite big and it probably wouldn't be very portable but it would be pretty interesting.
And no, I'm not going to attempt to make one since my knowledge from electronics isn't that good and I don't want to risk breaking a Sega Saturn system.

So, what are your thoughts about this subject?

Maybe it's because nobody likes Saturn games, it was a total Sega failiure. :(

Well it had good games but it didn't sell well. And its all fat and ugly.

I have a Saturn that someone let me have several years ago, but I wouldn't make a portable with it only because they're not that common. Nobody I personally know has one or has had one. Heck, I have a hard time even just finding used games for it in the used game stores.
Coming Soon: Kibble's L'Ectroshop (parts and stuff FS)

A Saturn portable would basically be the same size as the Saturn itself. It has a large board and huge CD-Drive and is nearly impossibe to trim.

Pass.....

This would kill any prospect of a saturn portable. Unless you wanted a huge one.

cryface
A truly wise man can entertain a thought without accepting it. A fool cannot withhold past judgments but instead closes his mine to new possibilities. Someone who wants to innovate simply needs to forget what everyone says isn't possible.

Except the second revision was not absurdly huge, the third revision was very small, and the clones are small to an absurd degree. ;)

Well, the second revision is huge to hold in your hands and play with it. Didn't know there was a 3rd revision tho.

you can cut down the second revision quite a bit, though.
