NES arcade Cabinet.

Post by AfroLH » Wed Apr 22, 2009 9:10 pm

I'm thinking about building an NES Arcade Cabinet.

I wanna build it so I can use the original controllers.
The way I wanna do this is by making the controllers come out like the demo controllers you see in Walmart.

So I have a few questions:
1. Can I use a normal flat screen TV or do I have to use a certain screen?
2. Where can I get kind-of like a tutorial on how to build NES Arcade cabinets?

Oh and any Tips would be greatly appreciated.

you could use a normal tv, or a flatscreen, or even an lcd monitor, assuming you could get rgb into vga.
whats the point though? i fail to see why hooking a console into a tv and then putting it all in a box is a desirable thing?

1. I assume you're thinking of the light gun, it only works with CRTs because of the way they refresh. All other games will work fine on an LCD.
2. Any tutorial about building an arcade cabinet will work, just substitute the NES in place of the arcade hardware.

You could do something similar to Pkmnjunky7 just tailored to your needs. If you have a Wal-Mart or similar store closing in your area, they sometimes sell the display units. Our K-Mart closed here several years ago and my friend bought the GBA display and mounted it in his house. I also had a friend tell me he saw a DIY special on TV about making arcade cabinets, you have lots of options.

vskid beat me to the rest...
