What do I need? (Mame? Frontend menu? other emulators?)

Gameex has a free version..but a loader screen. When you buy it it Disappears. Dunno if u can interrupt windows startup.

Mala is completely free version, though some of the settings can be stubborn, it makes a nice multi emu gamefront. Interrupts windows startup if you choose and can change the boot screen for you....if i recall

Arcade-OS.......i haven't a clue.

You should definitively use Hyperspin. It's a frontend for pretty much any emulator ever, and has custom theme support for the menu. If I ever get the cash to build myself a MAME cab I'm going to use it for sure.
