New Arcade Machine
Moderator:Moderators
Well, as the title says, I'm building a new arcade machine (and there was much rejoice).
It's going to be a more specialized machine that'll be more expensive than my MAME machine (unfortunately ), but already have a few parts purchased (mostly the electronic related ones). This one will be made with mostly metal, so I'll be hitting up the scrap yards for hopefully cheaper parts.

Well, 5 days later and still waiting for some parts I ordered to come in. Found out my temporary mail forward for college which had expired was still active, so might take a few days longer to get parts that should've already come in
Looking at making the base out of 2x4s though, local metal prices are ..well, pricey ($1.5-$2 per foot for frame tubing)

You could use a shopping cart as the chassis, they're pretty sturdy.

Well, got the modifications done to the schematic.
Now that's built and installed (albeit not fully working, AND gate functioning more like an OR gate, just built it off of the old design, so probably screwed something up while soldering )
I started moving on to the next modification. Because I'm tired of messing around with discrete circuitry already I think I'll use a small PIC Going to basically have a button press trigger a relay 10 times over a 10-15 second interval.
Got a composite to vga adapter today, doesn't seem to improve the quality, but I want to use an LCD for this and it's way cheaper to use that and a LCD than getting a LCD TV
