This is kind of an odd project/mod. We have a doorbell in our house and I am making a new cover for it. I was going to make the cover kind of like a light fixture, kind of like a night light (IE: not a huge lumen output). The doorbell system has a transformer in the basement that provides 18v DC to the location.
Is there any kind of LED ribbon lighting that runs off of 18v DC so I can just tie directly into the existing power? Or would there not be enough wattage there to power 10-15 LEDs? Would I be better off just running 120v AC there and use a 30 Watt Transformer to 12 Volt DC?
Other ideas? (id rather not have to fish a 120v line through the wall if I don't have to)
LED Ribbon lighting
Do you have a technical question that doesn't really fit a specific console? Want some general info on electronics, hacking, making cookies, etc? Here's the place to ask! Go nuts.
