Newb help! (It's been awhile since I was a noob)

Do you have a technical question that doesn't really fit a specific console? Want some general info on electronics, hacking, making cookies, etc? Here's the place to ask! Go nuts.

First things first if you didn't read the title...
I'm a noob ^_^

Basically my goal is to make a portable PS1 and a simpler PS2 (Laptop thingy).
The PS2 will be a lot simpler for reasons I won't bother to state but anyway.

Basically...
I don't know how to solder...
Or make a case.

That leaves me helpless in the matter.

I found that guide for soldering but any help in particular which I might need
to get started? Also I know where a Vacuum forming guide is here etc.

Basically just any thing I should know in particular (apart from difficulty and time related to making it)

Edit: I just remembered I will need a multimeter etc.

Hey fellow noob! Just getting started in this arena as well, and I would like to help in what little ways I can.
First off, here is a video I found helpful (being a visual learner) about basic soldering.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YwbZMGn9bHw

I picked up some stuff I didn't know from this and I hope it helps, but I would suggest doing a few practice projects like a robotics kit or even just desoldering and rewiring an old toy or something.
As for case building, I am pretty lost.
Cheers!

Yeah I found some solder vids around here and some case stuff.
I'm mainly lost on equipment I need now.

- Soldering Iron
- De-Solder?
- Solder?
- Multimeter
- I got some hobby pliers I can use to cut stuff up.
- Screwdrivers (we got a whole set but I need my own)
- Experience :P

I'll look around for some stuff to solder on to get some
experience. I also know where I might be able to pick up a PS1
for my first big project =D
