Triton posted this and i was wondering if i could swap the potentiometer with and how i could do that. I'm thinking of using tact switches. i don't really like the idea of knobby dial for the volume control. :)

No. That would not. If you are wanting to use tact switches to control the volume you will need a digital potentiometer. Life of Brian used one with a similar audio amp circuit on a recent project of his; I would start by looking for that thread. Also, that part is mislabeled in that diagram. It should be labeled lm386. Not sure if this will be any help to you but here is the datasheet. Your question could have probably been answered by finding that first.

And just out of pure curiosity and in the utmost respect, where did you get the idea that putting those tact switches would work?

Yeah for the digital potentiometer, it looks reasonable. Just for future reference, if you are asking for help with a specific part (i.e. that IC), post a link to the data sheet. It would make the life of anyone trying to help you easier. Again, I am not sure how or where you got that schematic, but here is the datasheet for that chip. On page four there is a sample schematic relevant to your interests.

:? No. Have you even looked at either of those data sheets? Everything you need to know is there.

Nope, but you are getting there. All you need is to connect audio input to RH instead of D and not connect RH to the voltage source.
