handy little power boards
Moderator:Moderators
so, i have a friend who is making these little power boards. they put out 5v and 3.3v, they are filtered, and all that jazz. they are perfect n64's, and anything else like that, and they are smaller than a 7805 and a pth8080 on breadboard. pics after the jump. is anyone interested? they should be a cheap, easy power solution for n00bs.

What about price, how much are these going to cost from your friend. 7805's are $1 and pth08080's are free. Hard to compete with that.

They aint free. They cost Ti $14 + shipping. Drain on society man!thewise1 wrote:What about price, how much are these going to cost from your friend. 7805's are $1 and pth08080's are free. Hard to compete with that.
Re: handy little power boards
they should be about 15$ and, while thats a bit over what a 7805 and stolen (sample) pth80808 cost, its a fully integrated smt board, with higher efficiency and lower heat. also, its easier for noobs. clearly labeled i/o pads, and whatnot. perfect for dreamcasts, gamecubes and n64's (i just checked it out this afternoon. however, the board i have is a prototype, and not as polished, or anything.

Re: handy little power boards
I'm interested in one for my current project. Would need it within the next couple of months or so though. I'm pumping in 7.5v and need to drop to 3.3v for a 9000 series PS1 board. If it's more efficient then http://www.dimensionengineering.com/DE-SW033.htm which is 87% then I'm all over it. (course I'm assuming that part of the mo-bo doesn't draw more then 1 amp. I have yet to confirm that with a multi-meter.)
Think! I refuse to have a battle of wits with an unarmed opponent.
