Help me upgrade my computer

Post by Nonsense Man » Wed Jul 22, 2009 8:26 am

Currently I have a this for a processor and for a motherboard with the stock gateway case with one 80mm fan which does not cut it (the mb and processor are stock as well) which doesn't really cut it. I was thinking of getting this mb processor combo with this case and this ram and 2 of these fans and finally this fan. What do you guys think on this upgrade?

This is the correct link for the case.

I would suggest maybe this or this memory instead.

What's your budget?

Are you buying a video card as well? (Integrated video is pretty meh.)

How many watts is your PSU rated for, and how many amps can it push on the 12v rail? You're not reusing the PSU from your Gateway, are you? (Pro tip: DON'T.)

What do you plan on doing with this computer?

If you want to save some money, and don't mind losing use of the old one, and the old case is standard MicroATX, have you considered reusing the old case to save yourself 80 bucks?

I have a Geforce 9800 Gt and a 600 wat power supply with only 1 12v rail. The reason I wanted a new case was only having one 80mm fan is noisy and my computer gets terribly hot. Also I upgraded it with another stick of 1gb ram.
