Depending on what it is, it could be a real easy fix.

I always saw System Requirements as pretty straightforward myself.

Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP SP2/Vista
Processor: Intel Pentium 4 3.0GHz or 100% compatible equivalent
Memory: 1GB RAM
Video Card: 256MB memory with Shader Model 3.0*
HDD Space: 8GB
DVD Drive: 1x DVD Drive
Soundcard: Soundcard with DirectX 9.0c compatibility
DirectX: DirectX 9.0c
Network: An online connection is required for access to Leaderboards

The CPU should be just fine to run the game (it is pretty much a 1.7GHz Core 2 Duo), but the GPU with 8MB of Video memory and it being an Intel, that won't even render the startup screen.

It might, but it will be really laggy if it does work.

I can run the game perfectly (and alt tab, no problem), on a intel 1.7ghz duo core 2.

Just crank the graphics down to minimum on everything. (Very Low). The graphics on that game are forgiving. Even on very low on everything, the game still looked video.

Are you serious? My Mom's laptop has a 1.7GHz Intel Core 2 Duo.

If you're telling the truth (and I think you are), then there's hope... But since everyone else says "No, you can't run it," it's still taking a $50 gamble.

Theres a demo for pc.
How about download the demo, and try?

And yes, I am telling the truth.

ACTUALLY, IM WRONG. MY laptop has a 1.5ghz Intel Core 2 Duo. So yes, your 1.7ghz intel core 2 duo WILL work. (As it works on my 1.5ghz intel core 2 duo.)

If you turn the graphics down to low and don't use too high of a resolution, it will work.

Well, then, I'll have to get on my Mom's laptop again to download Steam and the demo. Why didn't I think of that?

Either way, fingers crossed and all that. I'll let you guys know if it works.

There is no demo for Mirror's Edge on the PC. Steam only has the full version for $50 and a trailer.

Learn to share. :P

Hotdog, your 1.5 ghz Core 2 Duo will be faster than his 1.7 ghz Pentium Dual Core because you have more cache.

Atom < Celeron D < Celeron Dual Core < Pentium D < Pentium Dual Core < Core 2 Duo < Core 2 Quad < Nehalem

There is no way in hell an 8MB GPU will even let the game startup.

Don't waste your time trying.

It uses the system's ram, so it uses less when it doesn't need it. It probably jumps up to 256MB or so in a game.

Okay, I've got people on both sides telling me I can run it and other saying I can't run it for various reasons, one tells me to download the demo and others say there is no demo and that I should *pirate* it (which I would feel awful about; it's just as bad as stealing a physical copy, in my opinion, plus I don't have the first clue about how to use torrents or whatever)... I'm confused, to say the least.
