New shipping fees for Lithium Polymers

Post by hailrazer » Mon Dec 15, 2008 8:44 pm

Anyone see the new policy at BatterySpace.com
3. Due to recent transportation regulation change on shipping Lithium battery, UPS & FedEx has imposed an additional hazard material handling fee on 95% of all Lithium/Polymer battery. This fee is NOT include in the shipping cost! If your batteries requiry to ship as 'Hazard Material' , we will contact you before shipping out.

$40/package for Canda
$40/package for International
$30/package for domestic USP Next day/2nd Day/3rd Day (domestic)
$20/package for domestic UPS Ground (domestic)
That is going to really suck :(

well $20 is only like $6 more then what it normally is for UPS. Blame big brother government for this one!

I think that this is an additional $20 on top of shipping.

I wonder if someone would be willing to make a bulk order. pay the $20 fee, and resell on this site for an only slightly higher price?
That's the only get-around I can think of.

It's not worth it to buy from them anymore, like this.

meh, ebay is a mixed blessing.

For instance, I bought a broken PSOne screen advertised as fully working. After sending it back the buyer (after telling him the exact amount to refund) sent back a mail that he sent me 40€ instead of 40,90€. Sure, might not be a lot of money, but it's about the principle. I tell him that he "forgot" to send 90 cents, he replies "sure, I'll send it eventually"

not to mention that he's now selling the exact screen I sent back as "untested and thus as defective, just in case"

If lithium batteries are classified as hazardous materials and require an extra fee, then you'd have to pay extra to ship them out, too. It isn't illegal to buy and then sell the batteries, just to not pay the hazardous materials fees if they're needed.
And just click submit once.

Is this a USPS rule, or a batteryspace.com rule?

Why isn't there a delete button?

I just bought some batteries a week or so ago (which was a couple weeks after they posted that) and they didn't cost anything extra. It is only SOME of their cells but I have no idea which ones or what the difference would be.
