oh, and it came from a "mid-level Dell" if that helps anything, thanks for pointing the direction though. The reason is I need to know what to call it so people will actually see it and bid on it.

Drop it in a PC and use GPUz.

If you overclock it carelessly, yes.

From what I can tell, GPU-Z only tells you information about your card; I don't see anything involving overclocking on it.

I bet its a disclaimer so you can't sue them because it "killed your card". There is probably a 1 in a kazillion chance that it could damage your card, and my guess is its just as likely to damage your card as any game.

Looks like an old ATI graphics card with dual VGA output (2 monitor support). Old cards on e-bay will only get you a few bucks probably.

It's a PCI-E card, so it can't be that old. But the odd form factor (half low-profile, half full-sized) suggest that it's a low end card unsuitable for gaming.

I'd be willing to bet that its either an Radeon x1550 or x1300.

GPUz doesn't damage your cards, if it did, CPUz would damage your CPU, and god knows how many people have run CPUz.

Flawed logic. CPUz and GPUz are made by different people. Nothing stops anyone from creating a program called GPUz that could destroy your graphics card.
That, said there are no overclocking functions in GPUz (as far as I can see) so it should safe, nevertheless.

No, no...

When I have an ATI Radeon 9550 SE, I use an overclock tool and GPUz to keep track of things.

Nearly every piece of software comes with a disclaimer that the author will not take responsibility if it damages your system. It's just a way to avoid legal trouble.

How is that a response to the quoted text from my post?
Software that overclocks a component is always potentially dangerous while software that just probes it is generally safe. My point was that although Brutuz conclusion was correct ("GPUz is safe") his premise was incorrect ("They both have a name that ends with z")
That's basic logic that they'll teach you in high school.
