Mini update. I have found the real amp draw of the N64's voltage lines! See the first page for the values, you can check this post for much more information.

This is probably an important article to read for anyone trying to decide how to power their portable. It's a comparison of linear versus switching regulators - what the pros and cons are for both.

What of the voltage and mA of the non-mini SNES?

I don't know. Nobody uses those for portables because they're so big and take more power. I know the power adapter says 10v, though.

Thanks for this excellent guide :D , i can confirm that a Sega megadrive/genesis 2 with the 7805 removed only requires 5v at 200mA. (i'm using a dc-dc convertor to supply the board with 5v where the 7805 was).

I was trying to see how low of a voltage I could put into my genesis 3 without removing the regulator, and I put in 6v. Oddly, 6v was enough to let the genesis run at least for the ten seconds that I tested it.

I'm wondering if maybe 4.8v could still power it (without the 7805). If so, then I could use 4 AAA cells to power my portable! :)

EDIT: Fixed my crappy grammar.

EDIT2: Success! So I removed my 7808, and was able to put in 4.5v from my alkalines for power. I let the Sonic intro play through about six or seven times, no lag, no picture problems, all good! :D
If you're getting 404'd when trying to use the links in stickies, try this tutorial to find that juicy info.

I see we have the Sega Genesis power draw listed, but nothing for the Radica version. Ben stated in his Exodus thread that the Radica draws 60 mah. He ran it on 4 AA batteries for a 6 volt draw.

Is that all it's called? Not the Sega Radica or anything? Just Radica?
Thanks, by the way.

Radica is the company that makes them. They were licensed by Sega to make these GOACs, so unlike the NOACs, they are on the up-and-up.

I guess it's just a matter of personal preference to call them either "Radicas" or "Sega Radicas."

Yep, no problem.

Might wanna update the gamecube.

The newer boards with the built-in regulator draws 1.5A at 12v.
So with an Led modded Psone screen and the 5500mah battery you will get around 2 3/4 hours play time.
