Would it be possible in theory to make a set of VR glasses with a couple of small, say 1.5" to 2" LCD screens? 1 for each eye? Let me know what you thinks
:D

Probobly, but whoever's wearing it would only see a screen. For true VR, the game has to have two cameras, one for each eye.

Thats what im saying. Have 1 screen for each eye. I know it wouldn't be true VR, but It would give the illusion of watching a really big tv would it not?

Oh and if somebody knows where I could get some inexpensive small LCD's let me know! :)

talk about wearing your eyes out though...

Having LCDs that close tou your eyes jus ain't healthy

also, it has been done, I think Nickelodeon had a giveaway for them or somehting...

But not a bad Idea... just hafta figure out a way to make it easier on the eyes, and not make you nauseated, or something...

I looked at those... a bit pricey for experimentation no? Anybody know of any others?

some older camcorders have small (.5") lcd viewfinders, dunno if their composite or not but those would make a pretty sweet (albeit low res) HMD (head mounted dsiplay) to do it wit 1-2" lcds you would need lenses to adjust for such a close focal point which would make everything pixilized in the extreme, camcorder CRT viewfinders are also a possibility but more dangerous

There would have to be some kind of adjustable lens work on them. Try looking at your hand just 1" away from your eye & see how blurry it is.

You can get 2.5" ones off of ebay. Glasses and everything.

However I don't know if this would work with the Wii. It might, but if there's anything like the duck hunt gun inside (infrared?), then it won't. But if the gyroscopes act as an x-y position indicator (like a mouse) then it probably will.
Hey, sup?

Reminds me of my NES HMD. I just used an old helmet 'VR' type of gaming thing, gutted it (kept headset) and put in nes guts (with a visor NES port, nonetheless), added 2.5" hipgear, battery pack, controller. Presto (not-so-presto, as it took a long time to gut it...), <s>instant</s> HMD (not Heads Up Display but Head Mounted Display). I was going to make a nice theme color, but got lazy. I just cleaned it up and kept that crappy purple look it had to begin with. Since then, it's been destroyed.
Shhh! I'm not officially back yet.

I did the same thing

I found a toy VR game at Goodwill. I gutted most of it and replaced the 1.5 screens with two screens from hipgear controller The lens that it had did all the work of focusing. This project never got finished becuase I used one of the screens in a nesp.
