Eagle Schematic to PCB?

Do you have a technical question that doesn't really fit a specific console? Want some general info on electronics, hacking, making cookies, etc? Here's the place to ask! Go nuts.

Eagle Schematic to PCB?

I can't get the wires to appear when I transfer the schematic to a board. Anyone know anything about Eagle? I could use some help!

I am making a PSP serial port. If a downgrader is made using the serial port, then I am making a run of them at Spark Fun electronics. Right now I am making one on perfboard for TeamQJ.

Why's this in the Trading Post?

Sorry for not adding a useful response. ;)

I think I misread it for Technical Questions and Answers. Does anyone actually know what I did wrong with it?

What exactly is the problem? Whatever it is, the first thing I would do is click the ERC thing. It's on the very bottom on the left. You'll probably have to put a bunch of junction things everywhere to begin with.

This is what was there. What do I do to fix it?

have you actually laid down any traces? the program wont do it for you (well it can try but it usually sucks). on your board, rearrange the pieces and use the "route" tool that looks like a blue, red, and yellow piece of wire. the yellow lines will help you connect the right things together.

What did you use to draw the connections? Judging by the errors it looks like you used the wire tool, and you need to use the net tool for it to work (wire should really be read as "line"). If you did use net, then try picking up and dropping each component to make sure it's connected.

haha...wow, that's what i figured though. The ones that say missing junction you need to put the "dot" thing there to make sure the program knows where the wire is connected. The ones that say that a wire is overlaping a pin could mean a couple of things. If you want the wire to be connected to that pin, then you clicked on the wrong part of the pin to start the wire and need to try again, or you could put a junction on the pin. The numbers given after the error are (x,y) coordinates of where to find that particular error in your schematic. Fix those and the "too close" errors and we'll go from there.

I used the net button, less warnings, but I'm still confused.

really? I use the wire tool all the time and i've never had a problem. Oh well, as long as it fixed it for you!

Nothing worked. It still says stuff is disconnected.

Here is what I am transfering the schematic from (PDF link warning). Here.

if someone does it for you, you wont be able to do it next time! The first thing you should do is click on the display button in the upper left, and tell the program to display pins. There will be a little circle shown where the wire needs to connect to the pin. In your case you started the wire at the wrong spot on the pin, so it's saying the wire is overlapping, which is no good. So delete the short wire pieces going to the pins and connect them to the little circles that are shown

Should I worry about those? How do I fix overlapping?

Ok, the overlaping pin is still the same problem, just fix it for pin 2 and that will go away. Those circle things on the bottom...what are they supposed to be? Do you want them to be pins or holes to solder on to or something? If so, do a search for "header" and find one with 4 pins and use that instead of the circles. Also, the program is telling you that all inputs should be tied to a known logic level. So tie the two inputs to ground. And make sure you acutally put a ground symbol on there somewhere too.
What I have shown you is reality. What you remember, that is the illusion.
