I learned to solder while LED modding a screen.
If you have any old electronics, I'd recommend trying to desolder wires and components and then resoldering them in different ways. Maybe relocating resistors or caps on the board by removing them and then extending them with wire.
Try soldering to places that you normally aren't supposed to like scrape the film off a trace and try soldering directly to it. The smaller the connections you try to solder the better.
