So all the modding i do is with xbox 360 controller's visual appearances.
but i had this great idea yesterday. what if you could take a wired xbox 360 controller shell and put a wireless mother board in it and used a PS3 battery for the power?
what you would get is a slimmer, lighter, and overall better xbox 360 controller!
don't you think?
so im curious as to if this is possible or not.
i understand the voltage may be wrong and all that but maybe you could use another slim like battery with the correct voltage.
if this gets done id love to either learn how to make it or buy it let me know.

Re: Xbox 360 wireless controller using a PS3 controller battery
Actually, i have seen someone do similar to this. they kept the original case for the controller, and just cut off the battery area and covered it (nicely albeit) with a clear plastic. It actually turned out pretty well, bu I IRC, the controller didn't have quite the battary life.
Edit: I found the link here with a video. he used a real xbox battery pack because it has the smart charge chip specifically for it. you could use a ps3 battery pack if you adjust the Voltage (3.7 IIRC) to i believe 3v that would make up the xbox battery pack and used a custom smart charge chip. i could be wrong though. wouldn't be the first time

Well it was definitely smarter to use the xbox 360 battery pack.
but i really dislike the window on the back. it looked kinda sloppy.
now i still give him credit for doing it.
but im still hoping ben could make one and show a tutorial on it.
heres the back of the wired controller

Re: Xbox 360 wireless controller using a PS3 controller battery
BIt should be entirely plausable. If you do decide to use a ps3 battery, you would still need a smart charge board (I can remember what they are actually called but if you also used a 3v stepdown, you should be able to position the battart right behind the board. The problem with using a wired controller is you need that charging port which has no place on the wired board, so you would still need to change the plastic case anyways.

Well actually i was thinking one would use a wireless board in a wired shell
with the exception of the top Lb Rb piece.
like this
you could use the hole underneath the charging spot for a led light up button or something
