My new N64 portable, the Thursty64

Post by Michaelthurston » Sat Jun 12, 2010 11:37 pm

Literally planned and built withen a week, Today I have just completed one of my most anticipated projects, my Third N64 portable.
I spent a total of around 60-80 hours on this, and I think It turned out well.

Image
It took me around 2 weeks of planning, and around 80 hours of labor to complete this. Here is the original mockup:
Image
As you can see, it changed over the course of the build.
It has 2-3.5 hours of Battery life on a 7.4v 4500 mAh Lithium Polymer battery.

Still a lot left to do, cartslot cover, a bit of paint here and there, etc.

More pictures and better video later!

That is a really nice looking portable! I like the dual z-button setup. Can't wait to see the back totally finished! What method of case construction did you use?

That's great! Pics are waaaaay too big though.

I'm curious as to why you took the time to relocate the cart slot, but still have the game sticking out of the top. Is that to make room for the jumper pack?

Well, when I planned, I had made a bit of an Error.

In the plans, I didn't draw out the screwposts that hold the N64 together, so everything in there is really carmmed, there isn't much space at all, actually. But the reason the cart slot is up that high is because of the Rumble/memory slot, I didn't put that in the plans at ALL. When I got to the point of finding a spot for the cart slot, I had to put it up that high because of the Slot.

I'm going to completely redo my wiring, it really shouldn't be that cramped.

On which part? At the bottom I dremeled the back about half way through, and I bent it into shape.
