WeaveR's EmuLord 64 is Finished (video and pic)

Post by weaver » Sun Feb 07, 2010 2:28 pm

Hey this is my project that I've been working on. It's a Acer Aspire One modified with a Xbox 360 controller. It can play any emulator up to the N64/PSX gen. It can also play some PC games such as Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, Tony Hawks Underground 1 and 2, Tony Hawks American Wasteland, Halo (Low Settings) and Unreal Tournament 99 and 2004 (need mouse and keyboard might be able to get controller to work though.) Here's a pic, I'll put a video up of some gameplay later.

Here's the worklog thread: http://forums.benheck.com/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=36150" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Here's a gameplay video (Crappy quality and window glare sorry)

Let me elaborate on this thought.
You glued a cut up xbox 360 controller to a laptop and are selling it for probably more money than you paid for it in the first place.
You could have tried to make a new case, or at least bondo the xbox 360 controller in to make it look more professional and not just...thrown together.

Hey if you don't like it don't buy it, no need to bash. Actually it probably cost almost that amount and It didn't just make itself.
Netbook $330,
2 xbox 360 controllers (1 broke) $50 each
That's $440 right there and I also had to get a new soldering iron $40, desoldering pump $12, solder $7, spray paint $7, 30awg wiring $10, dremel $70. (I know these can be used again.)

Im not just out to try and sell it either it is for personal use but, I was thinking if I could make a few bucks why not.

He wasn't trying to insult you, he was just trying to tell you that no one is going to be paying that for this, which is absolutely true.

Ya I know but, you guys wouldn't like it if you were trying to sell something and I go and point out all it's flaws so even if there was somebody who might buy it changes there mind. Uploading gameplay video right now but it's crappy quality.

Most of the time, if a builder/mechanic/maintenance person screws up a part, they have to buy the new part. No one else wants to (or should) pay for your mistakes.
While it doesn't look the best, I do congratulate you on building something like this. Many others have thought of it, but I don't know of anyone who has actually done it.

for 600 i could buy a brand new laptop and a few 360 controllers... nice effort, but like the other comments, your asking way to much for something so crudely thrown together. :?

I'm going to continue work on this and fix it up. I have started to put a wooden case around the screen and plastic casing around the analog side. Also going to make the controller casing better. If I do end up selling it once Im finished I'd lower it to $450 since I just plan on making another and $600 is a bit ridiculous. Any more progress will be in the thread in the first post. Then I'll update this thread once It's all tided up.

Another thing to consider is that while you may have paid more, this netbook goes for $250 on newegg these days, and I have seen it as low as $220 on sale.

Right now the netbooks $300 at the lowest in Canada. $30 less than what I paid.
