Nice controller. i really like the colors. However, I hope you put enamel overcoat on the buttons to help prevent paint chipping.

I also used hot glue.samjc3 wrote: no. even a mini tut would be overkill. all it would say would be: cut the controller cord. solder in extra wire. wrap with electrical tape.
its just too easy to need any instruction whatsoever.

In which case, I would be proud to own that controller.Shakespeare wrote:Four or five coats of the stuff.themadhacker wrote:@ shakespeare:

It looks better in the pictures than it does IRL. There's an obvious dent in the paint, and it's not exactly professional. Love the color, but I could've done better with more patience and time. 2 days isn't enough to produce a good, quality paintjob.

Well, most of the portables around here have the same flaws, but their owners are too busy watching the game to notice.

Bangai-O Controller
Bangai-O is such a great game but it can be kind of tricky to hit the diagonal shots in the heat of battle.
I took the d-pad from a wireless ps2 controller that I don't have a receiver for and soldered it to the ABXY buttons on the DC controller. I would have loved to use dual joysticks but I don't know how well the analog ones would work here. The black stuff is Apoxy Sculpt epoxy putty. It still needs sanding and paint but it's fully functional so paint might have to wait for a bit, and I thought some of you here would get a kick out of it.
Maybe now I can finally get past level 20!
Lemme at 'em

Re: Bangai-O Controller
Is that still usable as a dc controller?

You bet, the 4 directions on the second d-pad are the ABXY buttons.Basement_Modder wrote:Is that still usable as a dc controller?

Grey and red look nice.Shakespeare wrote:Finally got some pictures up!
This is a 2-day project, but doesn't deserve its own thread. Therefore, it goes here.
The analog stick is a little messed up when playing with the controller. I'll have to crack it open and fix it. The L-button sticks a bit, but otherwise, it works fine!
Not the best paintjob, but it's MY paintjob.

Sorry, the lighting in those pictures is off. It's completely white, with its buttons painted red. There isn't a speck of grey on it. P:bacteria wrote:Grey and red look nice.

Merged Dreamcast controller button mod thread into Afternoon Projects thread.
Re: The Afternoon projects thread.
It doesn't sound near as fun when you describe it. It's a freakin unbelievable Bangai-O controller!eagle5953 wrote:Merged Dreamcast controller button mod thread into Afternoon Projects thread.
I'm up in the high 30's levels now, and it just keeps getting better. The controller is still working perfectly!

Re: The Afternoon projects thread.
well its not the afternoon, more like 2:29 in the morning, but after having to wait many months to get back my L64 (Parents thought it was a bomb ) I got it back.
I opened the N64p up and tried to look at what was wrong with it, the only problem with it was the screen (The game loaded, sound was good etc.)
I figured the screen was messed up (The ribbon cable had a tear in it, very very tiny little tear) so I replaced the screen with a new led modded one. So now my L64 is in perfect working condition, and looks better then when I got it third hand!
If you really want pics ill post, but I felt it good to finally finish and revive my broken L64 (P.S. I got it broken)
