My car is a stick shift, unfortunately the only gear with a switch on it is reverse to activate the lights.

Wait you had a stick shift car without a tachometer? :?

Fight MS Paint abominations! If you don't have a camera, go here, and pick something 3 megapixels or higher.

Ya, I don't think any Civic DXs came with a tach, I think you had to get an LX or better trim. In my opinion it isn't an issue in regular driving. If anything it makes you a better driver because you aren't relying at the tach to see when you need to shift, you just go by feeling and sound.

more common than you would think, Samus' old ford escort wagon didnt have a tach but was a stick too.

Yeah, my '00 civic DX has no Tach. could you just use a couple of switches positioned so that every gear activates them and completes the switch to that particular light? (I know, sounds like WAY to much to do for something so simple, just my though)

I had another hard drive fail in the marginally effective HP Data Protection System™ :wtf:

Having run out of laptop drives and not willing to lose any more time I went ahead and installed one out of an old file server.
re. picasaweb.google.com Snow_Cat wrote:Image Image
Inside the HP Mobile Data Destruction System a PATA cable has been jumpered into the 2.5" pin/cardedge adaptor. This leads to a common 3.5" harddrive from an old server, that was retired because it has a (super loud) failing spindle bearing. This is in turn connected to a 12V/5V powersupply from a harddrive enclosure.
The IOCS16 line is not present in the "system" connector requiring a seperate hook-up to establish contact between the HD and CD drives.
This is the part that took an afternoon, and I am quite pleased with it though the washer and garage door opener can knock it out. The fruitless search for my genuine XP SP3 and Office 2007 discs only turned up the reciepts, and not one of the three sets of backups stored in separate locations took the better part of this last week. :wtf:
As this is the third set of ligitimate, registered and lisenced software that has been "lost" I believe that installing a wallsafe will be the next project after I make a less vibration sensitive PCB version of this adaptor, and make a battery powered power supply for this drive if its death song doesn't reach a climax too soon. song.datacent.comFailing harddrive sounds is exactly the same.

I've already hacksawed the necessary connectors loose, it's only a matter of getting around to printing a new PCB now.

to make it real easy i guess.. it comes with both led's on their little boards, both plastic pieces, wires and connector.. and it came with a mini screwdriver and triwing. all i had to do was open the front up, pull the old stuff out, then put the new in.. the only thing that really sucked was the extra wire that was on it.. had to stuff it all in there...took maybe 20 minutes to do.
have u ever replaced the leds on a wii? those things are tiny. i dont see how anyone could have steady enough hands to do it. kudos to anyone who can though.
not bad for $5.50 shipped.
