phpBB3 time again

Post by benheck » Tue Jan 27, 2009 11:02 pm

Once again I am in the mood to upgrade to phpBB3, you know, before I get so behind the ball they're actually on version 4.

However I'm having some problems with cPanel I hope to resolve soon, and it would be good to have that working before I muck with anything.

I will keep you all posted, but I'd like to do this sooner than later. Which night of the week is usually the "deadest" for the forums?

Wooooooooo!

Any awesome new features you plan on implementing?

From what I have seen, almost every night on this forum is dead of late. :( Not very much activity...

But from my unscientific observations, it seems that Thursday nights are the slowest. Not much time left for people to procrastinate on homework, and Friday brings the weekend surge.

Sunday nights seem less populated than usual, probably because everyone goes to bed early because they've got school in the morning.

Are you serious? This forum is absolutely bustling at night compared to other forums I go to, where I'm often the only one online.

Also, nice job posting right before I did.

I've found thet sunday isn't a very active day, probably because people go to church or watch sports.

But do we really need phpbb3? I mean, I think that a change in forums would be more confusing than anything.

It means sub-subforums.
I think it's a good thing.
And, I think that it doesn't HAVE to change everything.

I don't want to whine here, but PLEASE find some way to back everything up! Some of you newer folks weren't here to experience the forum's previous "memory loss". That made me sad...

However, I truly am all for upgrading so don't let my previous comment mislead you.

I would recommend Sunday night as well.

I am only for phpbb3 if we get more sega forums. Nintendo has nes, snes, n64, and the current and last gen forums. Sega only has DC and the genesis/addons/sms forums. We should have a saturn forum. Maybe it would get more people interested in making one portable.

Sunday night sounds good. I'll lock the forum before I back it up, so there won't be any LOST data.

Hey I know phpBB2 works fine, but really we shoulda updated a year ago, and now phpBB2 isn't even supported. So I think "it is time".

Spread the word that Sunday night, probably around 6 central, the forum will go down for upgrade.
