What model was that originally?

Could you maybe post a brief summary of the page you linked in English here? Most of us can't read Japanese, and Google Translate butchers it severely. :(

It''s not complicated, it just says that he took it apart and painted it, then put it back together.

The only interesting thing is that because he didn't sand it down, there wasn't enough clearance for the hinges, and it scraped off the paint, as you can see.

It's a VAIO C1:PCG-C1RF, it says.
(He won it in a Yahoo Auction for only $30, damn!)

Who cares if the paint is scratched. thats the side you generally dont see!
So even though there is a small flaw(Not saying I could do better)it isnt too noticeable for the user

so that's why it's scratched. Mhm. maybe you should just sand and then repaint that part...

Even then, it's gotta be worth more than $30 in parts.

I wonder what the cheapest touch netbook I could get used?
A Japanese auction site is probably my best bet, it's the biggest market, therefore the lowest prices.
It'd make a kickass home-music front end, all you need it a little aesthetic mod, an external hard drive for all of your tunage, and a simple front end to run an iTunes type deal.

Seems like a good idea to me.

Who am I kidding, I have no money.
Thanks for the offer, sorry business is so bad.

That would work though.

And now that I think of it, you could just use a normal touch screen monitor in a homebrew VMI.
GOD, HOW COOL WOULD THAT BE.

A 5" multimedia touchscreen remote with slide out mini keyboard that lets you control your home entertainment system and computer from the couch.
