I havent been around on benheck(term for benheck forums) as often as I'd like, but now schools over and I can be here more!
*some yay, some nay*
I'd like to say first off, that this was going to be my summer project, and I am astonished that I completed it before the first day of summer(monday). or atleast in my book
I will continue to spend the summer improving it and the SS64 cosmetically as much as I can.
This is, my wii portable, my wii laptop, The WiiL. (Pronounced "wheel")
This is it closed. It lines up flat.
Opened, from ground view.
From a slightly higher view.
Here are the guts, from the top.
I spent some good time contemplating what to do for the case, then I decided to make my own, using acrylic(plexiglass some say). I enjoyed making the case, however it was interesting experimenting with different techniques. Because of that, I feel that the case is not of the best quality visually, mind you its very sturdy structurally.
I only have one thing that I need you guys help with. A charger. See, I took two 7.2v Sub-C 3300 mah Ni-Mh battery packs and tore them apart. I then took 10 of the 1.2v cells and wired them in series to get a 12v 330 mash nimh pack. Point is, I dont think my 7.2v charger will charge it correctly anymore. What should I do/build/buy to fix this?
Anyways, comments are appreciated. Anyone commenting/flaming on looks being bad shall be "captain 'obviated'"

EIGHT GALLONS OF HOTGLUE! actually looks pretty decent, personaly i would sand it with 400 grit and spraypaint it white or something just to cover up the guts, look cleaner that way plus you can use filler around the gaps and such to clean up the looks

I agree that painting it should help. If the guts don't look good, transparent=bad. Looks pretty decent, how long does it last?
Look here for a charger.
I have a suggestion for someone wanting to make a handheld Wii (just thought of it and best place to put it). Put the Wiimote's sensor on the back of the portable, and then have a battery powered sensor bar that you place a few feet in front of you when you play. I've noticed that you don't actually aim with the Wiimote like a gun, it is more like a mouse and you just move it relative to where the "cursor" is.

You may have been fooled by the adhesive for connecting the acrylic sides together, that is lexan? acrylic adhesive. Looks like hotglue when dry. But I'll probably paint it.Triton wrote:EIGHT GALLONS OF HOTGLUE!
Thanks! I've already selected the one I'm getting:vskid wrote:Look here for a charger.

Also, The batteries were not fully charged, so I never got how long it would last.

I know you don't tend to care how the case looks, but I agree with the others you should paint it. Good work though. Tell us when you figure out the battery life.
It is not junk! It is assorted goods with no current use.Sword_Gun wrote:Klef your asking a whole bunch of videogame players.. for girl advice.. Nice.

Yes, they are the bottoms of the old "brain" type devices which were part of the lego robotics sets. I stole both battery holders and covers from my favorite childhood toys.grossaffe wrote:are those legos on top?

5 in. PSOne screen. Ebay.grossaffe wrote:and how big is that screen and where did you get it?
Thanks!Chapel wrote:For what it is worth, I like how that case looks. Looks really unique, like the system is frozen in a block of ice or something. And what's cooler than being cold?
But, a paint job would give it better mass appeal, not going to argue that.
