If that worries you, it is possible to slice the end off a USB cord and crimp a phone cord end right on there. One intact cord. People rarely look close enough to realize a USB port is going into a phone line.

To Neildo, damn - I meant eleven but forty five just came out. 'Hate it when that happens.

To Tibia, I worry about everything. Especially children. They poke, they pull, they prod but most of all they grasp a basic understanding of computer workings and tend to ask loud questions at inconvenient times :D. But that's just my experience; surely in the majority of circumstances people would overlook such a detail.

'Forgot to say that's a nice hack, there :). Can't wait to see what you come up with next.

My parents don't care how I set up my rig. As long as it does not mess with the cable tv.

While it is a nice mod and a nice idea, I have quite a fair share of criticism after thinking this through.

1) This has been mentioned already: the cable is probably more suspicious than the USB stick itself

2) why didn't you solder it to an USB extension cord? That way you could have switched the USB, and could have taken it somewhere, if desired.

3) Why? I mean, sure it sounds like a good idea, but if you think this through: Is it really necessary? I mean sure, you want to hide your files, but why don't you just... not hide the USB stick? I'm sure nobody would complain if you pulled your own USB stick out of the PC before letting somebody else on it. Pulling out a cable on the other hand...
An external harddrive I would have understood.

Still nice, though

Is it just me, or do people on Engadget like to gripe about stuff more than to it themselves? There's a lot of stupid conversations going on there.

Anyway, congrats, Aquilaz! Glad to see you getting some recognition!

WOAW! JUST WOAW!

I can't believe I was featured on Engadget! I sneaked on SpyroForum (at school) and I noticed the views was in the thousands. When I sneaked over here, I can't log on because I was SPEECHLESS!

Ugh... The people on engadget make me want to die. I just can't stand how stupid they are... Good job on getting it there though! I would do something like this except I don't need to! So I'll just order that ZN-40 case for my Snesp...

That is a awesome Idea. Protect your files from your bro or if someone else wants to sneak up on your files, they won't be able to find the important stuff (Financial documents, Private things)

Yup... Unfortunately, I called in SR to lock the howto as I am attracting too much flak! :(
