NESQuic (Or something like that) 56k warning

Post by gannon » Sun Mar 30, 2008 2:22 am

So, for the lack of things to do in a hotel room, we've made a portable NES/Genesis. Parts include a yobo GNTwin, PSOne LCD, and 2Ah NiCD battery. It took ~4 hours to build with limited tools and in the toilet. It was built for project_failure, and if we get a marker we'll all be signing it I think :P

AFAIK the only injury was a burn to my index finger.

For clarification, we were not IN the toilet while building it, but in the bathroom because it had an air vent for the solder fumes and also because it sheltered a bit of the noise the Dremel made. :P

Aww... I really wish I could have been there with you guys. :? Oh well... maybe next year.

You know... if room service or something came in while you were working on that, they probably would have thought you were building a bomb.

Yeah the creation of the NESQuick made up for the inability to repair Shock Slayer's N64p. It's really cool, those Yobo cases have a lot of empty space, I couldn't believe it when I saw it. As there is a day left, I might buy one. I still have a lot of my modding stuff, and I have a PSone screen.... So I could try and do one myself.

What scares me is that you guys brought multiple soldering irons, a dremel, hot glue gun, multimeter, wirestrippers, etc to a gaming convention.

Nice job on the portable though!

Also, kudos to the wearers of the Pastafarianism and Pink Floyd tees.

That portable is so cool looking. And not bad for 4 hours :P . But then, it's very often you have a buch of portablizers in the same place working on the same project either :D .

Nice portable! 4 hours? In a hotel bathroom? You guys are pros! And I love the name. I hope to be able to come to MGC next year, as I'll finally be able to drive there (I'm 17 and just got my license, still not insured yet though). Is there any word if MGC '09 will be during March like this year or in June like in past years?

Not bad for being on the toilet the whole time. lol. I would rate it an 8 on a scale from 1 to uber l33t. Looks very clean and functional. Good job guys.

I really wish I could have been there. I would have been the one manning the hot glue gun, or the one being held back from the hot glue gun, it really depends!

4 hours? impressive!

I soldered crouched at the cold floor of my house with a crappy solder gun, but never at the bathroom  , and I also never made anything of electronics at a hotel.
I also build my gcp during more than a entire month!

nice job guys
