He is talking about my boxes, i have a vintage sylvania replacement parts box, it has 4 fold open aluminum trays and a large storage compartment in it and its made of wood and metal and awesome. also brought my GE tube caddy which has 3 drawers in it and a space below them for other storage, had my gamecube and parts and other misc in there! ill get pics of em later, i use the sylvania box for my electronics classes at college
here is one that is similar (better shape tho) to my GE caddy

Well it wasn't just salvage, there were new resistors in there, 555 timers, and really that's getting beyond simple modding. I didn't actually see what the Radio Shack there had, but I'm sure if it's like all others, it has crap for what we'd be there for.bicostp wrote:What's so surprising about that? I use those little multi-compartment boxes and a tackle box to hold pulled parts all the time! They're great! (And you can get them for 2 bucks if you're willing to shop at the craft store. They're marketed as 'bead organizers' but they're the same thing Lowes sells for a lot more. I know most portablizers are cheap SOBs... )Sparkfist wrote:I swear Trition could have rivaled the local Radio Shack for things like resistors and other electronic component. Really a stylish case that opened up to reveal a tackle box-like full of parts, is something I don't think many people are expecting to see, ever.

yep, a few hundred resistors from ~10 ohm to i think like 5.6M plus 1 or 2 of about a dozen of the 74xx series TTL chips plus some 555s and transistors (3906 and 3904s) plus regular and zener diodes and several types of capacitor from .001uf to 100mf i think

Dammit, really? I don't remember seeing it broken, but it was completely fine when I last used it.Sparkfist wrote:I must sadly inform some of you there was a casualty, my Winchester multi-tool was damaged, the scissors like tool was broken. Thanks guys for telling me when I got it back. Seems I should bring most if not all of you Leatherman multi-tools next time, and avoid this again.
I blame CTfan, naturally.

I think you actually introduced me to that image, Rekarp.
And ya, don't bring a 1.5 year old thread back to life to say something that isn't that funny.
