-90 degree cartridge connector to help you pass trigonometry
So if the cartridge is X cm [up] and the SNESp is Y cm in length, would that mean the resultant vector from the top of the cartridge to one side of the case would be the sum of 1/2 Y + X?

Yay! It does work!
actually that would be a vector from the corner of the unit to the top of the cartridge
NERDS! That's okay though... :D

It's just so damn sexy! It reminds me of Ben's handbuilt nes in his book, just a lot skinner. Wonderful looking portable, and I can't wait so see more!

Why thank you my good sir. I highly recommend that template of Ben's for anyone's first SNES. It's just the right size to fit everything in without any headaches, and yet it's still very thin. I can't decide on whether to do my next SNESp with a similar shape or not. I have all the stuff on hand...

If I did do another very similar SNESp, the main changes I would make are:

1) Relocate the cart slot so the cartridge slides down the back
2) Li-ion batteries
3) Buttons a little bit lower (ergonomics)
4) Shoulder buttons on the back

Aside from those things it would be pretty much the same. I wouldn't mind, either. It was fun to build and actual construction time didn't take long at all.

the portable is one of the most gorgeous I have seen in a long time. do you mind me asking how you did the 2nd player port? I took the 2nd player port and just wired them back to their original places (as though they were still attached to the motherboard) but my wire is either too thin or SOMETHING, because, darn it. it doesnt work! how did you do yours?

Why thank you. I actually have a couple more SNES portables in the works (one super sexy and one really simple), as well as a portable PSOne, so hopefully I'll have those done before the end of the summer! And just to make things more fun I'm teaching my younger brother how to make an Atari portable. Fun all around!

Sorry I didn't see your post earlier, um... poopiesman. All I did was wire it up exactly like it was before. Nothing fancy.

This thread is a bit old; modders have since begun relocating the cart slot.

Yes, it did get in the way and a bump would reset the game. This was my first portable, and my goal was completion, not perfection. Leaving the cartridge slot where it lay was a far easier solution than relocating it. For a first portable, I say it was an acceptable compromise.

Really nice poratble. Few questions though, how thick is the alu on the side walls and did you just bend it by hand into shape? Is that you in your avatar?

I think the aluminum was 3/4" wide, 1/16" thick. Really easy to bend, and I did it by hand and also with a big pair of pliers. I also glued it down with hot glue here and there as I went along the shape of the front plate.

Yeah, that's me in my picture with a mutilated Atari 2600 board that's yet to be portablized. The case is taking a while to make, so who knows if it will ever see the light of day. It powers up and plays fine, though.

Yup. inb4lock!

Actually for a first portable, this is pretty good.
