Start Lifting weights for this portable

Post by jeffslot » Tue Aug 01, 2006 6:43 pm

Hi guys,

I don't think anyone has noticed, but I've been kind of quit lately. Mostly because I've been hard at work building my yet to be named portable.

Here are some pictures:

Front-Gameboy size comparison.

Well I'm not sure this officially qualifies as portable, but maybe. It's a Neo-Geo MVS MV-1 board. One of the original huge ones. It does have on-board stereo, though (too bad I've only got mono-going).

This isn't actually much bigger than the motherboard (15 inches by 11.5). I had a bear of a time getting all of the buttons to work. Right now, I'm leaning towards tearing it all apart & "Consolizing" it. I think due to the size it would probably be a better console. Well, tell me what you think.

Oh yeah, I must take a minute to thank Skyone, Iam7805, and Marhsallh (and everyone else at benheck & neo-geo.com that helped). I really couldn't have done this without them. Thanks guys. :D

Great stuff, Jeff! Cool color, nice LED mod, and relatively small for what you had to work with. Grade=A.

By the way, where did you get that battery? That's perfect for something my friend wants me to work on. What charger do you use for it?

wallydawg,
I never stopped going to yard sales, I just haven't had any luck lately  .

Sword_Gun,
It's about 18 inches long by 12 inches wide and 1.5 inches thick.

Skyone,
Dpad is good, thanks for all your help! :D

CronoTriggerfan,
The battery and charger came from batteryspace.com I think this is the charger I use.

atari2600a,

See above for how tall it is (approx 18 inches). It weighs....... a lot.

Hey, look at the bright side of the weight! Attach a metal chain & it doubles as a medieval torture device!

It's not small. But remember the motherboard is huge. Like I mentioned before I'm leaning towards taking this project apart & building a console.

Awesome! Given the huge size of those motherboards, I'm surprised it's portable.

Great job
