Post by climberyao » Thu Oct 22, 2009 7:37 pm

Guys, I found a mini laptop on Epathchina.
check:
display:7-inch TFT screen, 800*480 True color LCD
Processor: XBurst 400 MHz 32-bit CPU
128M RAM Memory
1G NAND Flash Storage ...

How about it?

128mb is not very much. Most games or programs ask for at least 500mb and those are old. New ones like 2008 and above ask for at least 1gb of ram.

Eew. MIPS based (no x86 or even ARM code will run), and slow as balls at that. Barely any storage space... Don't bother.

Wait until Black Friday. Office Depot leaked their Black Friday prices, and they're going to have a 10" netbook for $150. (I think it was an Aspire One.)

That might run StarCraft! Then if it has wireless, your set for life.

Not with that CPU. They're just crap that Chinese companies are putting out to try to cash in on the netbook market and take advantage of average Joe.

Not really, they're just targeting a market different than what you're thinking. In the developing world price is way more important than speed or compatibility. It's hard to find sites in English that carry netbooks like these, much less targeting the average person in this market.

Acer Aspire One 10.1" Netbook w/ 1GB RAM, 160GB HD, Windows XP - $149.99

It's a doorbuster, so they'll probably only have a few.

Hmm. If I can easily wrangle up $150 I'll have to snag that, otherwise, meh, if it's hard to save up maybe I should get something I'd use a bit more.

get a netbook that has atom or atleast the eepc 901 and higher. trust me, you can find them for like around 200 if you look long enough at kijiji or craiglist (recomment kijiji).

remember, buy face to face, meet at a mall etc if possible (i dont cuz im not that careful), and good luck

Yeah, those newer Eee Pc's with the bevel on the front have pretty good specs for a netbook. Here's a link if your lazy: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Asus+-+Eee+ ... Id=9705424

C'mon, 1 Gb of RAM, 160 Gb SSD. That's sick, and all for $270.

1. That's a 160 GB hard drive, not SSD.

2. Those are not "pretty good" specs for a netbook. Most netbooks have the same processor (Atom N270), RAM (1 GB), hard drive (160GB), and battery (3 cell). The price is unremarkable as well.

3. The laptop you linked is a netbook. They are in no way "sick" in terms of either specs or performance, and that one is no different.

4. The original poster hasn't logged in since November - pretty sure he's not following this thread.

Considering this is MIPS, I'd say vskid is right. Maybe not if it was ARM.
