Case construction question

Post by ninjamonkey » Mon Jun 20, 2011 9:55 am

I am trying to make a case for a mobile computer. I was wondering, Can you use bondo to bond wood and plexiglass together?? I found some rounded molding I was going to use to make rounded edges and I was thinking of using bondo to make it.

Bondo + wood + plexiglass?

I don't think that will hold to well :?

Route a groove in the wood for the plexiglass to slide in. So the wood looks like it has a U in it. Then, add liquid nails or equivalent.

thanks for the suggestion.

Would it be a good idea to use the liquid nail stuff on the grooves and then to reinforce maybe use bondo?

Edit: Would plexiglass to plexiglass work using bondo???

Bondo is a filler, and not for structural fixes.

Use something like epoxy. Like JB Weld.

I have ditched the idea of making my own case; I currently plan to make a motherboard tray and then mount that inside a something like a briefcase or suitcase and go from their.

Any good suggestions on cements/putties/epoxies that would work for bonding plexiglass to plexiglass?

Acrylic glue. There is actual glue made to bond it, I'm not just being smart. :P
