360 laptop screen help

Yes it is nice to be able to put your projects INSIDE something isn't it? You know, to hold everything together so it doesn't flop around? Discuss the techniques here!

360 laptop screen help

Post by private1i » Sat Aug 21, 2010 6:18 pm

Hey I have an Acer x183h LCD monitor that I am using for the screen in my 360 laptop. Now while familiar with modding the 360 and having soldered for most of my life I am familiar with what is involved. I am however unfamiliar with LCD screens and Im trying to incorporate the LCD power into the 360 power brick and on this LCD is the inverter attached to the power supply? I have posted pictures. If so can describe where I would need to cut the board so I can rewire it remotely? And which do I have to have behind the monitor the inverter or the driver?
Thanks!

(Skip to "Hacking up the LCD electronics")

You basically want to cut the inverter half of the power board and leave that in the case for the backlights. The other half goes in the power brick and is attached to the power brick and takes 12v and 5v from it.
However, not all monitors can work.
1. It needs to run off of 12v and 5v. It should say some voltages on there, probably near the connection to the driver board.
2. You might not be able to cut it (or even in a favorable shape). If you show the back, I might be able to help, but you might not be able to cut it.

And that driver board is small!

Did you want to see the back of the driver board? So am I able to relocate the entire power supply/inverter to a location not directly under the screen like in the case for the motherboard im building? I have these pictures and also please look at the PDF posted as it has all the detailed tech info about this screen.
