Vertical positioning rail / slide?

Does anyone know of a rail or slide that has enough friction to hold its position while supporting an LCD panel? Like the action of a height-adjustable monitor stand? I'm thinking of making a case with a monitor mounted to one side, completely flush, but with the monitor section able to slide up to the desired level and stay there. I'm picturing two rails on the back of the monitor mated to rails on the case. Even better would be if it can lock in the lowest position.

Any help would be appreciated. I've searched everywhere. Yes, the entire Internets.
